functional but uglyNov 18, 2008 We bought this after searching in vain for something with similar functionality but with a more neutral contemporary look. Everything in this category is country, traditional, "baby"-looking, or over the top cartoon stuff. Looks aside, this thing works! Sticks well to the table, cleans easy, catches food and fits well with our Phil and Teds Me too chair (which is our baby's primary daily chair). Our son is able to pry it off the table, but not all the way -- not a problem. Main thing was to get some help keeping food off the floor. The food catcher was the primary design feature we needed. It helps to make up for the deficiency in this area with the Phil and Ted chair. We're glad this product is on the market.
dining out simplifiedOct 16, 2008 This is great product! It makes dining out with a little one so much easier. We no longer have to feed our son one piece of food at a time or worry about holding onto a plate in fear of him throwing it to the ground or worry about putting food onto a germy table.
It stays put very well. Even on surfaces that it won't suction to, it sticks pretty well due to its rubbery texture.
The trough that sits at the edge of the table is great for catching the food our son rakes toward his body trying to get a whole handful to put in his mouth.
It is quick and easy to use. Roll it out and stick it on the table. When you are done, you can just fold in the mess and roll it up and the rolled part tucks right into the trough part. All the mess stays put. No worry of the foody mess getting into your diaper bag.
Excellent buySep 21, 2008 My husband and I have a disabled son whom creates messes while eating. This place mat is wonderful, and we had no problem at all with it. It cleans well and the suction cups do work, I noticed other people saying that they don't work, but we have a wood table with a coated surface and it sticks well, actually, sometimes we have to pull so hard to remove it from the table. I recommend this item...
Love it!Jun 09, 2008 I love this product because my son (11 mos old) loves to chew what's in front of him, tables included. This product gives him something other than the germy restaurant table to chew, catches part of his food so he can still grab and eat it and gives us a place to cut and place his food. Product does not keep baby from table (like one of the other reviews said), it is soft and squishable material. Product is not hard to clean, you just have to rub and rinse under running water. It rolls up and fits in any diaper bag - folds up on itself to contain the mess until you get home to clean. What I don't like about the disposable table protectors is that my chewing son tears them to bits with his teeth, possibly ingesting plastic. I suppose it depends on the mom and the baby but I recommend this product to every mom I know!!!
Great idea, but baby likes it too much.Feb 12, 2008 The TinyDiner is a great idea and I have no complaints with its design. The suction cups really adhere to the table, it keeps all of the crumbs in one place, and it folds into itself for easy storage. The only problem is that our son is enamored with the thing and won't leave it alone. He is either pulling the placemat up or chewing on the trough. We're hoping that the novelty will eventually wear off and he'll quit noticing it's there. Until then we'll look back fondly on the days of simply wiping down the table and hoping for the best.
