Weak Plywood & Flimsy Frame -Far From ApolloAug 12, 2008 I saw the Apollo Computer Desk online and was immediatley drawn to the compact size and streamlined look. I was in desperate need of more working space and after a little research, I determined that the Apollo Desk would be my saving grace. After reading a few positive reviews I purchaed it from Amazon.com via Home and Living.
I HAD NO IDEA OF THE MESS I STEPPED INTO.
I recieved the desk via UPS in a large sprawling package. I produly drug it into my apartment and began to assemble my new workstation. I started out exaclty as the directions stated, which was to turn the desk upside down to put it together. That's right, upside down. As I began to assemble the pieces together I noticed the soft plywood was a little suspect, especially when I used the metal screws. The directions then stated that the completed half needed to be "flipped" right-side up. I had a feeling that the plywood would not hold and I was right. The screws ripped from the weak plywood and the metal frame tore from the base and bent from the pressure.
Ripping screws and bent frames would become the theme of the entire assembly as the weight of the desk is disproportiante with the support provided by the plywood.
I called the parent company RTA, and they were helpful. But I got the feeling that they replaced torn & ripped pieces frequently due to them not even asking me for proof of purchase, let alone my name. When I did recieve the new pieces (4 days later) they were the wrong color, and not surprisingly, my name was completely misspelled. But who cares I got to start fresh right?
WRONG!
I struggled with assembling the second half of this behometh also. I invested over 12 hours in this CPU desk. I did finally put it together (mismatching pieces and all), and the final product is nice looking. However, the flimsy shaking of the tall base leaves little for confidence, especially knowing that the soft plywood holding it together is suspect.
I do not reccomend this desk to begin with. If you are brave enough to buy it, be sure to have help while assembling it. I'm a 30 year old male in good condition and I'm still sore from the marathon of assembling my new Apollo desk.

Very nice deskMay 12, 2007 The Desk itself is real nice and looks beautiful in my apartment. The only problem I had with the item were the missing screws. Somehow the screw's package was open, some were in the box, the others must have fell out during delivery. I went to Home Depot & brought new screws. I didn't call the company because I couldn't wait another minute to put the desk together. I also recommend a friend to help put it together and some patience.
